9 Mar 1791 a THOMAS STEVENS was a witness along with David Murray and Severn Jones to the sale of 1/4 Unity Grove and 1/4 of Lebanon, 2170 acres by John Jones to Dagworthy Jones. [1789-1792 Land Records of Sussex by Ardine] Then in the 1850 census of Sandy Branch we find a younger THOMAS STEVENS b abt 1825 with his wife Sarah Long (of Eber Long) living with Sarah's mother Sophia Murray Long, widow, along with a 54 yr old NANCY STEVENS whom I presume was the mother of Thomas. Their son Joseph d before 1860. The 1759 WOR will of John Collins of Sandy Branch names a dau ANN STEVENS whom I believe could have been the wife of REUBEN STEVENS Sr. A younger REUBEN m Polly Brasure of Godfrey in 1819 [DE Marriage records] and is found in the 1850 census of Dagsborough Hd. with a son CHARLES STEVENS. Joe Long's dau Ruth m WILLIAM STEPHENS and they are found in the 1850 Dags. Hd. census as William Stephens 51, Ruth Stephens 43 Joshua Stephens 16, Ruben Stephens 14, Hester G Stephens 12, Robert Stephens 10, Lydia Stephens 8, Joseph Stephens 6, George Stephens 0, Vice Stephens 22, Elizah Atkins 24 [Vicey Stephens was the dau of Thomas and Sarah who b d before the 1870 census where we find their 7 children in the hh of Joseph G. Harrison and Rhoda Long(of Joe]. WILLIAM STEVENS was probably the son of REUBEN SR. JOSEPH B STEPHENS buried at Joe Long Cemetery born 1838 died 1892 was spouse of Margaret D Murray of Elijah W. of Severn & Nancy (McCabe) Murray.
