In the name of God Amen I Richard Clark of Sussex County, State of Delaware, Being sick and weak in Body, but of a sound mind, memory and understanding, thanks be ascribed to almighty God for the same; do make, pronounce and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner and form as followeth, Wiz Item 1st. I give and bequeath unto Leah Long, the woman now living with me, and to her daughter, that she now has called Hetty Robinson Long, the house wherein Mrs. Ann Powell now lives, and three acres of land therewith, to be laid off to my out lines and adjoining Watson’s lines, so as to include some cleared Land around to said House (which is to continue where it now stands) to her the said Leah Long and her said daughter for and during their natural lives, if they or either of them shall think fit and proper to Occupy and possess the said house and land so long as they or either of them shall live. Also one Feather Bead and furniture (such as belongeth to the bead) One cow and calf, three shoats, eight or nine months old). Also thirty bushes of Indian corn, with other necessaries (-?) such as meal, sweetening, coffee, etc (?) so as to make one years diet or provision fit and convenient for such a woman and child, commencing as my decease (?) (as to the provisions) and to continue for twelve months and no longer the other legacies for and during their natural lives, on the following conditions, that is provided, that she the said Leah Long nor any person for her or in her name brings forward or raises and manner of Account or demand whatever against me or my Estate after my decease for any manner of service done for me or any of my family previous to my death; then my will and desire is that she and her daughter shall have none of the above mentioned articles, Either house, land or any of the movables; but if she Omits to bring or cause to be brought and such demands against my estate, then to have and posess the above mentioned articles as is described.--- Item 2d. I give and bequieath unto my son Elijah Bell Clark the house and plantation whereon I now live together with all the improvements thereunto belonging, (except the life Estate as is given to Leah Long and her daughter) containing all the Lands within the lines of four pieces of Land, three of which is included in one entire Tract and is called “Conclusion to Lively Hill and Chance, and the other piece or parcel of Land which I bought of Armwell Long Called Longs Discovery, all of which (except as is before excepted) I give unto him and his heirs lawfully begotten of his body for ever and also the house and three acres of land given to Leah Long and her daughter, as soon as their life Estate therein shall cease and be ended; I give and bequeath the same unto my son Elijah Bell Clark, to him and his heirs lawfully begotten of his body forever. But if he should die without lawful issue, I give and bequeath all the above mentioned and described Lands & premises (except as is above excepted) unto all his surviving brothers and sisters, and their lawful issue for ever, to be equally divided among them according to quantity and quality.-- Item 3d. I give and bequeath unto my other six children Wiz, Siddenham Thorn Clark, Polly Clark, William Clark, Betsy Clark, Jean Clark, and Sally Clark, all the remaining Part of my Lands and improvements that now belong or shall hereafter belong and fall unto me in the division of a Tract or parcel of Land heretofore bought of Peter S. (?) Berry (By Isaiah Long and myself as Tenants in common) known by the name of Unity Grove Enlarged still called Unity Grove, also a separate Tract or parcel of Land called and known by the name of Chance, whereon Isaac Long now lives, Recourse (?) being had to the title papers will more plainly and at large appear, which Lands are to be equally divided according to quantity and quality, to them my said six children and their heirs lawfully begotten of their bodies forever. But if either of them my said six children should die without lawful heir, begotten of their body then the surviving brothers and sisters or their lawful begotten issue to have an equal and proportionable part of the Lands belonging to the deceased, excepting my son Elijah Bell Clark, he shall not claim and part or parcel thereof, so long as any of his brothers or sisters or their issue lawfully begotten of their bodies shall survive him. Item 4th. I give and bequeath unto my son Siddenham Thorn Clark, one Mare Colt, which has been commonly called his colt, to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item 5th. I give and bequeath unto my son William Clark one grey horse, which is commonly called his Horse. Item 6th. My Will and desire is that my Negro Man, Abnor (?) shall be free at my decease, and not to serve any person as a slave after my death Item 7th. I give and bequeath unto Henry Bell (of Philadelphia) all my Lands until my young son Elijah Bell Clark shall arrive to the age of twenty one years with the privilege of using as much Timber off or it as he shall think fit or proper for the use of my children. I also give and bequeath unto the said Henry Bell All the remaining part of my moveable Estate, both within and without doors of every kind whatever, that I have any right, title, claim or Interest in or to. Lastly, I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Henry Bell my whole and sole Executor of this my last will and Testament, As Witness my hand & Seal this twelfth day of March, eighteen hundred and twenty one. If the above said Henry Bell my Executor should die before my son Elijah Bell Clark should arrive to the age of twenty one years, that All my children shall have immediate passion of their Lands as is (?) conveyed to them in the above will and Testament, according to the Laws of the Delaware State in regard to those that are under age of maturity.
