D. Eugene "Gene" Wilgus, age 83, of Selbyville died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. He was born in Selbyville and was the son of the late James E. and Jennie H. (Hudson) Wilgus Sr. Gene owned and operated Wilgus Glamorama, formerly Selbyville Cleaners, for many years in Selbyville and was a charter boat Captain operating the Wild Goose out of Indian River Inlet. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville, a founding member of the Thursday Morning Bible Study at Doyle's Restaurant in Selbyville and a member and Past Master of Doric Masonic Lodge #30 in Millville. In 1978 he was selected as the Small Business Person of The Year for the State of Delaware. He was also a US Air Force veteran. He is survived by a son, Jeff Wilgus and his wife Gay of Selbyville; a daughter, Sue Stewart and her husband Fred of Selbyville; 3 grandchildren, Dr. Courtney Stewart, Kristen Jones and Chuck Stewart and 2 great grandchildren Reagan and Tanner Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife Deliah B. Wilgus in 1975 and two brothers, James E. Wilgus Jr. and Carlton L. Wilgus. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 21 at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville with Pastor Mike Fillis officiating.
