Ruth Ann Burton Thornton, 80

Ruth Ann Burton Thornton, 80, of Selbyville, Del., passed away on Sunday, Jan.
30, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Millsboro, Del.

Thornton was a member of Selbyville Assembly of God Church and enjoyed gardening,
walking and reading.

Thornton was preceded in death by her parents, Marquis and Hester Hudson; first
husband, Harold C. Burton, and second husband, Luke Thornton; and her brothers,
Leroy and Perry Hudson. She is survived by four sons, George E. Burton, John L.
Burton, Harold C. Burton Jr. and Daniel R. Burton; daughter, Bonnie Lou Thomas;
sister, Rosalee McCabe; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, with burial in
Redmen’s Cemetery in Selbyville, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested
memorial contributions in Thornton’s memory to Delaware Hospice Center; 100
Patriots Way; Milford, DE 19963.
