MILFORD - Joan L. Smith passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 at the Milford Center. Joan was born in Selbyville the daughter of the late William P. and Mildred (Tingle) Turner. She worked as a cashier/bookkeeper for Hess Apparel in Milford then at the Blue Hen Mall in Dover for many years. She enjoyed camping, loved being in the sun, going to the beach and spending time with her husband and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Smith in 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy L. Smith and her husband Sean; her son, William E. Turner and his wife Judy; her step-daughter, Susan Wagenhoffer and her husband John; her brother, Parker L. Turner and his wife Maxine; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Homestead Unit at the Milford Center as well as to Vitas Hospice for the kindness, care and compassion shown to their mother during her stay. A viewing will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
