Elton C. Savage, 86, of Bishopville died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at the home of his granddaughter, Kristal. He was born in Selbyville and was a son of the late Thomas L. and Eva (Tyre) Savage. He had been an over the road truck driver for many years. He was a member of Wilson United Methodist Church in Bishopville, a charter member of the Mason-Dixon VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View and a life member and past chief of the Bishopville Volunteer Fire Company. He also was a World War II Coast Guard veteran. He is survived by two granddaughters, Michelle Hudson and Kristal Baker, both of Bishopville; four great-grandsons, Chase Baker, Brice Baker, Wesley Hudson and Cody Hudson; a niece, Ruth Ann Evans; a nephew, Earl Savage; and a cousin, Hilda Bunting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah E. Savage, in 2006; a son, Ronald C. Savage, in 1966; and a daughter, Wanda K. Taylor, in 2007. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville with the Rev. Dr. Everett Isaacs officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will be in Bishopville Cemetery in Bishopville.
