Clayton Ringler Sr. Hayesville, NC-Clayton Ringler Sr., 87, of Hayesville, North Carolina passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at his residence. He was a native of Sussex County, Delaware, but lived in the Florida Keys before moving to Clay County, North Carolina in 2006. Clayton was a senior vice-president with Baltimore Trust Company. He was a life member and first president of Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, Fenwick Island, Delaware and had received the Lighthouse Award for 40 years of service. Clayton was a life member of Selbyville, Delaware Fire Department, where he served as secretary / treasurer for 30 years and president for two years. He was also a member of the Elks Club. He was president of the Southern Chapter of the American Institute of Banking and president of the Delaware Banking Association. Clayton was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville, Delaware, but he attended the Hayesville First United Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Raymond Easter and Enid Odessa Lynch Ringler. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude "Trudy" Ringler. Surviving are his wife, Keila Matthews Ringler; a daughter, Trenicke Abbott and husband, Robert of Laurel, Delaware; two sons, Clayton Ringler Jr. and wife, Linda of Onancock, Virginia, and Ross Raymond Ringler and wife, Dr. Margie of Greenville, North Carolina; a step-daughter, Marsha Vera of Gray, Georgia; and seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Delaware. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Clayton Ringler Sr. to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 125 Medical Park Lane, Suite H, Murphy, NC 28906.
