Daily Local News, West Chester, Chester County, Pa Tuesday, October 06, 2009 Janet Long Moore Redzig, 68, of Roxana, Del., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009. [moderator's note: Janet graduated from SHS in 1959.) She was retired from the U.S. Navy. She was a member of the Fenwick Island Baptist Church, Lower Sussex County TRIAD, S.A.L.T. Council of Sussex County, American Legion Post 28, F.I.B.C. Choir, American Red Cross BloodMobile, Sr. Crime Afficate, NERA League Island Chapter, and Sussex R.S.V.P. caretaker. Janet would give her heart to anybody and would help anybody. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Robert and Virgie Wilkerson Long; and husbands, Earl W. Moore and Robert Redzig. She is survived by her son, Eric Karl Moore and wife, Alex Wellington Moore, of Exton; brother, Robert V. Long of Millsboro, Del.; sister, Jean Ellen Hitchens of Laurel, Del.; and best friends and caregivers, Vicki, Pfeifle and Cyndi Seabrease. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; four great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; as well as many friends across Pennsylvania and Delaware, many of whom she helped. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Fenwick Island Baptist Church, Route 54, where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Michael Fillis will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Dagsboro Redman's Cemetery, Dagsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a needy or abused person, or to a local women's shelter.
