LAUREL-Darwin A. Hudson, 81, of Laurel died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at his home in Laurel,
surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Frankford, a son of the late 
Charles L. Hudson and Sarah Edna (Dingle) Hudson.

In his younger days Darwin worked at DuPont in Seaford before leaving to fulfill his dreams of 
farming. He was happiest working on his farm, raising pigs and livestock. He had the reputation 
as a hardworking man who ran his business in the most ethical and honest ways throughout the 
farming community. His work, his family and his faith were the things that meant the most to 
him. He taught his children and grandchildren the importance of working hard, which is his 
legacy. He attended the Laurel Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty L. (Workman) Hudson; five sons, Philip A. Hudson 
(Cathy), Lemuel S. Hudson (Jessie), Benjamin J. Hudson (Barbara Ann), Jason L. Hudson (Lisa) 
and Nathan R. Hudson (Sherie), all of Laurel; two daughters, Nancy L. Bickerton (Charles 
Michael) of Laurel and Barbara Jan Deitrick of Millville; 17 grandchildren; many great-
grandchildren; two brothers, Earl D. Hudson (Faye) of Delmar and Norris T. "Nippy" Hudson 
(Jean) of Laurel; and a sister, Hope P. Huey (Gene) of Bridgeville. He is also survived by several 
nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Holly A. Hudson; three 
brothers, Julian E. Hudson, Manford L. Hudson and Alan M. Hudson; and two sisters, Hilda 
Tsuchiya and Vera S. Hearn.

A memorial service [was] held Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in 
Delmar...
